She was born March 17, 1943, in Lincoln, the daughter of John and Iva Linxweiler Scott. She married Raymond Batman on November 28, 1964, in First Christian Church in Blue Mound. She was formerly employed with "Herald and Review" as a reporter, then returned as a columnist years later. Her most recent employment included manager at Hieronymus-Mueller Museum, columnist for the Decatur Magazine and writer of newsletters for organizations, specifically "Dovetales" for Dove, Inc. She published three books. She was a member of Central Christian Church in Decatur.
Surviving are her husband; son, Jay Batman of Chicago; daughters: Shannon Batman and Lindsay (husband Daniel) Chapman, both of Champaign; brother, David (wife Betty) Scott of Decatur; sister, Jane Scott of Normal; father, John Scott of Blue Mound; mother-in-law, Pauline Batman of Blue Mound; brother-in-law, Jim (wife Jenny) Batman of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother.
Memorial services were held Saturday, January 11, in Central Christian Church in Decatur.
