George was the son of George Bryant Gardner and Harriett Maria Beebe.

George married:

Medora Owens December 28, 1876 in Virgin, Washington County, Utah Territory. They divorced.

They had eleven children together:

Horace Bela Gardner (1877 - 1957)
Jennie Gertrude Gardner (1879 - 1955)
George Elmer Gardner (1880 - 1957)
Anna Medora Gardner (1882 - 1942)
Harriet Lorine Gardner (1885 - 1947)
Leighman Owen Gardner (1886 - 1912)
LeRoy Eugene Gardner (1887 - 1919)
Ivin Estelvin Gardner ( 1889 - 1949)

In 1896, George moved away and changed his name to William B. Hardy. After leaving Arizona, he moved several times, until he settled in Idaho.

Under the name of William B. Hardy, he married twice more to two sisters:

(1) Clara Jane McCloy on November 15, 1899 in Taylor, Bingham, Idaho.
Clara was born Aug. 23, 1876 and died Sept. 18, 1912.
(Her death certificate gave Aug 9, 1876 as her birth date)

They had three children together:

LeRoy Hardy (1901 - 1901)
Lula Ruth Hardy (1903 - 1903)
Harwood Hardy (1910 - 1910)

(2) Sarah Ann McCloy August 30, 1913 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Sarah was born May 12, 1875 and died April 16, 1951.

They had two children together:

Virginia Hardy (1906 - 1981)*See note
Margaret Louise Hardy (1916 - 1985)
