Lois Billie Marie Spyres Hughes, age 87, arrived at her Heavenly home into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, October 20, 2013.

She was born on October 15, 1926, to Clarence and Ora Lee Spyres in Heavener, Oklahoma.

She went to Texas High School in Texarkana, Texas, where she played in the Tiger Marching Band. She was a faithful member of County Avenue Baptist Church, where she loved teaching little ones about God.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Bobbie Watlington.

She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Ben L. Hughes; her children and their spouses, Susan and Charlie Boyer; Sandy and Steve Peoples and David and Carolyn Hughes; her sister and husband, Bettye and Joey McCright; nine grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren, who knew her lovingly as "Nanny." She also leaves behind a host of other family and friends whom she loved dearly.

Burial will be at East Memorial Gardens following the service.
