Alison Jeanette Durant, 74, died on Tuesday(8/4/1992) at her home in Lawrenceville.
She was born on May 28, 1918 in Buckton, a daughter of Charles and Alison Paxton Tilden. She was a graduate of Brasher-Stockholm High School and the Watertown Business School.
She married Ralph F. Durant in 1942. He died Feb. 1, 1982.
She and her husband owned and operated a farm in the Jenkins Neighborhood in the 1940's and 1950's.
She was employed at the Aluminum Company of America and Neisner's Department Stores, Massena. From 1957 until 1982, she and her husband operated a dairy farm in Lawrenceville.
She was also a substitute rural carrier for the Lawrenceville Post Office and worked in the cafeteria at St. Lawrence Central School, Brasher Falls, under the Green Thumb program.
She was well known for her crocheting, knitting and needlework. She was also an avid bowler for many years.
Surviving were three sons, David, Lawrenceville, Rollin, Hampton Beach, NH, and Calvin, Portsmouth, NH; eight grandchildren; a brother, Theron Tilden, Buckton; two sisters, Mrs. Douglas(Huldah) Ploof, Brasher Falls, and Doris Duncan, Huntingdon, Quebec.
A sister, Ida Compeau, died before her.
