Louella Emijean Butts
Oct. 24, 1919 -- Aug. 3, 2003
Louella Emijean Butts of Port Hadlock died in Port Townsend from a stroke at age 83.
She was born in Balco, Okla., to Charles Edward and Cora (Hartley) Slater and raised on the family farm, moving, with her family, to Darrington in 1928.
In 1938, she married Virgil Inman in Darrington; he died in 1951.
In 1952, she and her six children moved to Port Townsend, where she was employed at the Crown Zellerbach paper mill.
She married Robert Butts in Sequim in 1958.
The Butts family then made its home in Irondale for 30 years, and increased by two more children.
For many years, Mrs. Butts drove a school bus in Chimacum. She was also active in the Tri-City area of Jefferson County and, as a charter member, held many posts in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Carson and Judy Inman of Port Hadlock, Blaine and Susan Inman of Buckley, Dale and Vicki Butts of Sumner, Lonnie and Patricia Inman of Port Hadlock, Ronald ``Pete'' and Suzanne Inman of Port Townsend and son Leroy Inman and daughter Louise Nelms, of Port Hadlock; and daughter and son-in-law Roberta Jean and Allen Shields of Bellefontaine, Ohio.
Also, brother and sister-in-law Laverne and Helen Slater of Falls City; sisters Violet Johnson of Port Angeles and Rosalie Torie of Marysville; and 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Robert Butts, died in 1988.
Services: Friday, Aug. 8, from 10-10:45 a.m., visitation immediately preceding the 11 a.m. funeral in Irondale Evangelical Free Church, 681 Irondale Road, Port Hadlock. Pastor David Hodgin will officiate. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Chimacum, will be followed by a potluck at the Butts' home, 220 E. Moore St., Irondale. Kosec Funeral Home, Port Townsend, is in charge of arrangements.
