Jean was born August 4, 1923 in Philadelphia to her loving parents Albert Horn and Matilda App Horn. Growing up, she was very close to her siblings Albert Horn of Drexel Hill, and Ruth Horn Schmidgall whom she outlived. Jean graduated from West Catholic Girls High School. She spent her early years in the banking industry and then devoted her life to her family as a homemaker.
Jean loved sewing and crafts, taking pride in her finished products. She was one of the original parishioners of St. Kevin's Catholic Church, before the church was even completed. Jean was the devoted wife of the late John Leslie Nelson and was predeceased by her son John "Jackie" Nelson, Jr. Survivors: Mother to Patricia Nelson Fruggiero of Yarmouthport, MA. Jean was grandmother to sisters Cassie and Lisa Fruggiero, both of Boston, as well as Michael Nelson and his wife Julie of Springfield, PA. She also leaves behind 2 great grandchildren, Nicholas and Grace Nelson.
