Joseph C. Ahmer, 90 of Parkersburg passed away Oct. 20, 2013 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 4, 1923 in Butler, Pennsylvania son of the late Thomas J. and Mary Ball Ahmer. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran having served in Okinawa, Japan. He had owned a produce store in South Parkersburg. He had worked Wun-der Shoe Store in Parkersburg and later retired as manager of Mandel's shoe store in Lakewood, CA. Joe was a devout member of St. Xavier Catholic Church in Parkersburg.

He is survived by a sister, Zita Bogdan of Youngstown, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Cyril, Thomas, John and Charles "Chick" Ahmer.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. John Rice as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Parkersburg with full military honors by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg.
