Susan Greene Farmer, 84, died Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Bayview Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born October 21, 1927 in Providence, RI, daughter of the late Ralph D. and Elizabeth Luther Greene.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and had worked as executive assistant at Suburban Propane Gas Corp. in Whippany, NJ prior to moving to New Bern. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Farmer and her brother John D. Greene.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas A. Farmer and wife Donna of Harleysville, PA and James D. Farmer and wife Trish of Stroudsburg, PA; one daughter, Cynthia F. Siegfried and husband Alan of Crofton, MD; seven grandchildren, Robert Siegfried and wife Lisa, Kathryn Siegfried Fuller and husband Charles, John D. Farmer, Kelly Ann Farmer, Hillary G. Farmer, Laura Farmer White and husband Daniel, and Gregory T. Farmer; and one great-granddaughter, Audrey E. Siegfried.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 3 at First Presbyterian Church with Ken Gruebel officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church Session House following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers it is suggested contributions be made in her memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude place, Memphis, TN 38105.
