Francis Beard is a NSDAR/NSSAR recognized Patriot of the Revolutionary War. His ancestor number is: A 210784.

Francis Beard (Frans Baard) was born about 1745. His father was of Scottish descent, and his mother was of Dutch descent. He married Christina Kerssenaer in Schenectady, New York, in about 1769 after having purchased their farm from the Patroon in 1768. He served in the 3rd Regiment, Albany County Militia under Col. Philip P. Schuyler in the Revolutionary War. He died after 1790.

Intersection, Route 397 and Settle's Hill Road. Turn right. To the righthand side of the road on the north side of the farm of William Brehn, late the property of Aaron F. Pangburn, about 2,000 feet north of the present house and 100 feet south of the farm line fence between the Brehn farm and the Herman Gray farm, on a little knoll near the site of the old residence, this soldier lies buried," (Dunnsville, NY - Latitude and Longitude of his grave is 42.734436 Lat. and 74.022746 Long). Please note that the above spelling of their names and the grave location come from the book published by the DAR. Other publications spell their names differently as is evidenced in this biography.
