John Masterson,a farmer, enlisted July, 1861 and served in Co.D - 39th Ohio Infantry. He mustered out June 20th, 1862, Farmington, MS due to an injury.
He was admitted to the U.S. Homes for Disabled Soldiers- Los Angeles, CA in 1919 and discharged in 1920 to live in Butte, MT.
He was married to Dessie Masterson and is noted as working as a miner at the Leonard Mine in Butte in the 1906 Butte City Directory. Living with him and his wife at this residence was son Thomas J. Masterson & Sina Masterson (relationship unknown). (Son John R. Masterson had already passed in 1900)
