Geraldine E. "Jere" Albert, 77 of Maytown, formerly of Mount Joy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October, 22, 2013 with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Ralph D. Albert who died in 1995 and will be deeply missed by her daughter Gwenda M. Smith, companion of Todd B. Smith and grandchildren Cody and Amanda Smith all of Maytown.

Born in Lancaster, Jere was a 1954 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School. Earlier in her life she worked as a waitress at the former Kegel's Seafood Restaurant. She later worked for Wyeth Labs of Marietta until her employment at AMP Inc., Route 230 plant in Mount Joy where she worked for 26 years , retiring in 1998. During her retirement, Jere worked part-time for the Donegal School District food service at Riverview Elementary School in Marietta. She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church of Mount Joy and the Mount Joy VFW Auxiliary, Post 5752. An active volunteer, she enjoyed sharing her time with patients at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown. Most of all, Jere enjoyed spending time with her family which will be special memories for her grandchildren.

A Funeral Service honoring Jere's life will be held at the Sheetz Funeral Home, Inc., 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at 2 PM. Her family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM. Interment to follow the Elizabethtown Mennonite Cemetery.
