Judy came to Memphis from her parents home in Jackson,Ms., to help take care of our grandmother Jewel Agnes Carter Pickler Sivley but later moved in with other relatives to continue her education at Tech High School. During summer break she went back to Mississippi to visit her family and they went to a lake for a family outing. Her younger sisters and brothers got out too deep and she went out to help them. She managed to save 2 siblings but the current swept her away afterwards. She couldn't swim. One of her brothers said they reached for her but she was gone.
