David Webb Searcy, 70, a longtime resident of Hammond, Ind., formerly of Littleville, Ala., passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at the University of Chicago Hospital. Visitation will be Sunday, May 27, 2001, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Spry Chapel of Russellville, with the funeral service following at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow at Bolton Cemetery. Brother Bill Grissom will be officiating. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Clellie Mae Searcy; two daughters, Beverly (Roger) Ryan and Margie (Dan) Wenglarz; four grandchildren, Joseph Ryan, Cynthia Kenney, Kimberly Kenney and Timothy Kenney; brother, Louie Searcy of Mulga, Ala.; four sisters, Gertrude (William) Hawkins of Lake Station, Ind., Dorothy Ballentine of Hammond, Ind., Ruth Smith of Russellville, Ala., and Johnnie (William) Vandiver of Russellville, Ala. He was a loving uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. Webb was a longtime active member of Sardis Missionary Baptist Church. He was retired from Heckett Engineering. He will be sincerely missed by all of his family and friends. Pallbearers will be Timmy Kenney, Joey Ryan, Edward Searcy, Gary Smith, Dewayne Smith and Bill Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Sardis Missionary Baptist Church, 604 173rd St., Hammond, IN 46324. Spry Chapel of Russellville is directing.
