Elsie A. Cambell, age 96, resident of Lakota, ND, formerly of Lignite, ND, died Monday, March 17, 2003 at the Lakota Good Samaritan Center, in Lakota, ND.
Elsie A. Ljunggren was born January 17, 1907 at Lignite, ND, the daughter of Arvid an Charlotte (Nelson) Ljunggren. The family lived on a farm in Harmonius Township of Burke County, near Lignite. She attended elementary school in Harmonius Township, and attended high school in Columbus, ND and Lignite, ND. In 1924 the family moved to Lignite. Elsie married Jack L. Campbell of Columbus, ND, on December 2, 1926 at Crosby, ND. They lived on the family farm for 27 years and then moved to Lignite, where she lived for 29 years. Jack died on August 3, 1971. In 1986, Elsie moved to Lakota, ND, to be near her daughter, Darlene C. Swenson. She lived in an apartment in Lakota until December 28, 2000, when she became a resident of the Lakota Good Samaritan Center. Elsie's family includes 1 son, William (Shirley) Campbell of Seaside, OR; 3 daughters, Jean (Jerry) Breidenfeld of Reston, VA, Della Arnaiz of Springfield, VA & Karen Roland of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; a daughter, Darlene Swenson; a sister, Linnea Kihle; and 2 brothers, Bror Ljunggren & Ralph Ljunggren.
