Mr. Markham was a graduate of Curtis Wright Aeronautical Inst., Glendale, CA. He was an Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II, serving as a B-29 Bomber pilot with the 20th Air Force stationed on Tinian. Following the war, he served in the Air Force Reserves.
Mr. Markham was employed by the Dept. of Defense as a contracting officer, stationed at Hamilton Standard and Kaman Aircraft. He was a member of St. John Church, Cromwell; DeSoto Council #6 Knights of Columbus; the Cromwell Lions Club, serving as treasurer for many years; the Retired Officers Assn., and was the Northeast Representative to the Pilot Classes of 1944.
He is survived by a daughter, Judith Markham Clarke of Rocky Hill; two granddaughters, Beth Kershaw Cohen and her husband, David of Brooklyn, NY, and Meghan Markham Kershaw of Rocky Hill; a sister, Mary E. Arnold; and her husband, John of Millbury, MA; four nieces and nephews, Edward M. Arnold of Shelton, Barbara J. Morin of Milford, MA, MaryEllen Dwyer of Merrick, Long Island, NY, and Thomas F. Arnold of Millbury, MA, and their families. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles H. Markham.
Funeral services will be held from the Cromwell Funeral
Home, 506 Main St., Cromwell, Monday, May 7, 9 a.m., and at St. John Church, Cromwell, 10 a.m., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.
