The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2013, at Colonial Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Tillman and Reverend Howard Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Ellisboro Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Cox was born June 4, 1936, in Rockingham County, to the late Pleasant Arthur Cox and Ida Bell Rogers Cox. He was a farmer, a former employee of Cone Mills, retired from Kobe Copper and was a member of Ellisboro Baptist Church. Frankie loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Arthur Cox, Jr., Elsie Booth, Francis Coleman, Katherine Kendrick, Lois Coleman, Gladys White, Vera Harrison, Akers Griffin and Doris Cayton.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Leona Pruitt Cox of the home; children, Monee Knight (Van), Donnie Cox (Sandra), Renea Goins (Jeff), Rhonda Hopper (Pete) and Sondra Cox; grandchildren, Misty Lunsford (Patrick), Zeb Knight (Kristin), Hanna Joy (Jeremy), Brandy Lineberry (T.J.), Ross Knight, Harly Goins, Jessica Goins and Gary Hopper; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Joy, Braylon Joy and Sophie Lunsford and brother, Joe Cox.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday, at Colonial Funeral Home and all other times at the home of Renea and Jeff Goins, 296 Ellisboro Road, Madison.
