Allred married them in Central 25 December 1912. Katie married Jack only after Bishop Allred had talked with Jack and Bishop Allred promised Katie that Jack would take her to the temple some day. It was joyous occasion when eighteen years later, after many hardships, the family was sealed together in the temple.
Jack bought a dairy in Safford, which failed because Bangs Disease. They moved back to Globe where Jack worked until the mines were closed. Jack went to California for work and Katie and the children came to Central and stayed with her sister, Della, for a time and then to a friend's house which was vacant because of hard time.
While living in Central. their child, Roxie, became ill that Dr. Merril said that it was no use for him to come anymore because he could do nothing for her. Jack came back from California to see her, but had to return to California to hold his job. He was very worried when he left. Roxie was unconscious. When in California he wrote Katie and told her she could have the children blessed in the church, have ward teachers, and anything she wanted. He had not consented to this previously.
After Katie received his letter she was looking out the window and saw Bishop Edsil M. Allred and ward clerk, Silas Jenkins coming by her house. She hurried to the door and called them in, but they felt they should not because Jack had not consented. She told them about his letter and they left to get some consecrated oil. When they returned they blessed and named the three girls first, then administered to Roxie. As they left Roxie sat up in bed and said, "The Lord has made me well." She played the rest of the day. This happened 21 March 1921.
Three months later the family moved to California and after many more faith-promoting incidents, Jack gained a testimony and they went to the temple as Bishop Allred had promised. Jack passed away 20 May 1945 and Katie married Edward Elson 20 February 1953. Edward died at the age of 91 on 13 April 1975. In 1982, Katie is still alive at the age of 89 and lives in California.
