He could speak German, and would converse in German with his wife's mother and grandmother. This so pleased her grandma that she gave him a German Bible which she received when but 12 years old. Carl cherished that Bible and he ever held on to it.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter Irma of Galesburg, two sons, Ray of Galesburg and Robert of Chicago, a sister, Mrs. Clara H Dyer, Galesburg, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death with a son, Lawrence Frederick.
