SOUTH BURLINGTON - Kenneth Guy Lavigne died peacefully on Dec. 23, 2014.

He was born on Jan. 2, 1919, to Guy and Beatrice (Sprague) Lavigne in Hinesburg.

He lived and worked on the family farm in Hinesburg, played on the town baseball team, was an active participant in town plays, and graduated from Hinesburg High School.

He married Virginia Pike on Feb. 26, 1949. They were married for over 60 years and made their home on Pond Road in Hinesburg for 39 years before moving to South Burlington in 1989.

Ken worked as a heavy equipment operator, specializing in cranes for Cass Warner.

Later, he worked for Sears as a small engine repairman until his retirement.

Ken had a lifelong love of automobiles; dogs, especially beagles; and hunting. He loved to reminisce about the old days, and his mind was sharp right up to the end of his life.

Throughout the years he had many hobbies including motorcycles, boating and snowmobiles. He was friendly to everyone and over the years developed wonderful friendships with his neighbors.

Arrangements by the Gifford Funeral Home, 22 Depot St., Richmond.

Burial will be in the spring in the family lot in Hinesburg Village Cemetery.
