William W. Cobb
"Woody" born Feb 15, 1913 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife Naomi, and 3 daughters, Kathryn Amburgy, of Alamagordo, Pat Johnson of Las Cruces, Janice Miles of Las Alamos; a brother Cecil Cobb of Sierra Vista, AZ; 6 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Woody came to Las Cruces in 1952 and was in the glass business until 1969. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he was ordained and served as a Deacon. He was a member of the Rotary Club and served 9 years on the personnel advisory board for the city of Las Cruces. He was a member of the Aztec Masonic Lodge No. 3, AF & AM, York Rite Bodies and the Shrine Club. He was Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star and Past Dad of Las Cruces Assembly No. 12, Order of Rainbow for Girls.
Prior to moving back to Las Cruces in 1983, he was Chief of Security for a prestigious Lakewood residential development at Lee's Summit, Missouri. Woody has currently been manager of A-1 Self Storage at 1100 E. Madrid Road.
Visitation will be held tonight Dec 11, 1990 at 7 p.m. at Grahams Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at First Bapist Church on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Dr. Charles Price officiating. Donations may be sent to the church for the Baptist Childrens Home in lieu of flowers. Pallbearers will be Dutch Houseknect, Kenneth Holdridge, Paul Lamascus, Bob Clawson, Claude Tharp, and Joe Lee Wofford. Honorary pallbearers are Al Socolofsky, Jay Arnold, Dr. A.D. Maddox, Tom Feigan, David Ewing, Gary Coleman, Dr. Howard Sevells, and Floyd W. Amburgey.
Arrangements by Grahams Mortuary, 555 W. Amador Ave., Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Note a bit of history: In order for them to survive while in their teen years, during the depression, Woody and Cecil left their fathers home in Parsons Kansas to work on their Aunt Preshie and Uncle Henry's farm .
