Rodney Lee Ray, 58 of Wheatfield, formerly of Valparaiso, passed away at his home, Tuesday, October 22, 2013. He was born December 1, 1954 in Michigan City, the son of Fred and Delores Ray. He was a 1972 graduate of Valparaiso High School and attended Wyoming Tech for auto body repair. He served in the US Marine Corps. He was active in the Marine Corp League the Leatherneck Detachment at the American Legion, Charles Pratt Post 94 in Valparaiso. He was an active participant in collecting for Toys for Tots thru the Marine Corp League. Rodney was Bingo chairman for the American Legion for 6 years and a member of the Eagles Lodge #2517in Valparaiso. He had an Associate Degree in Accounting at Ivy Tech and was actively pursuing a Bachelor's Degree at IUN in Social Human Resources. Survived by son Claityn H. Ray and Claityn's mother Jamie Schuldt, siblings, Sandy Repp of Dallas, Texas and Debbie Williamson of Garland, TX, Larry Ray and Jeff (Jennifer) Ray of Valparaiso. Also many nieces and nephews, who adored him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Delores Ray. Rodney followed in his father's profession as a roofer, working for Ray Roofing and Leslie Roofing. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting and cooking.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
