Clare L. Hankins, 83, of Baraboo passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 at the Reedsburg Senior Life Center. Clare was born on Dec. 4, 1929 to Guy and Gussa (Williams) Hankins in Reedsburg.

Clare was a proud U. S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. For many years, Clare worked as a mechanic with most anything with an engine; cars, trucks, boats, etc. Some of his favorite past times were going to the Badger Steam and Gas Show, playing bingo, and going to flea markets.

Surviving him are his children; Timmy Hankins of Wisconsin Dells, Marilyn Hankins of Baraboo, Danny Hankins of Hayward, Sue Ramsey of Baraboo, Debbie Statz of Hixton, and Cindy Bagley of Baraboo; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters, Thelma Stickles of Waukesha and Janice Forbes of Platteville; and brother, Hilbert Hankins of Portage; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Clare was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson, Zachary Meeker; 2 sisters; and 2 brothers, and his ex-wife, Jeanette.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a. m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013 at the Redlin Funeral Home, 401 Madison Ave., Baraboo with Reverend David Hankins officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Butterfield Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Baraboo Veterans Honor Guard.
