He is survived by his wife, Bernice Niehouse McEuen, daughter & son-in-law, Sandra & Tom Arrowood, son, John W. McEuen, stepson, Travis Appel, two grandsons, John N. Allday & John H. McEuen and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his father-in-law, B. J. Niehouse and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary & Lynn Ousley. He is preceded in death by his mother, Letha Neeley, father, John H. McEuen, and brother, Tommy McEuen. John was a native Houstonian, attended Dow Elementary, Lanier Junior High and San Jacinto Sr. High. John also attended Sam Houston State Teachers College in Huntsville. John joined the U. S. Navy and served for 3 1/2 years aboard the USS Lanier during WWII. After his discharge John became interested in the building business. He spent the next 35 years selling and becoming an expert in the brick business. In Houston, he was the owner of Ace Brick Co. There were many home builders that depended on John's expertise and knowledge. For the past 15 years he was the owner of John McEuen Custom Homes and was highly successful building homes in several areas of Texas. He was a lifetime member of the Houston and Texas Homebuilders Assn. and a lifetime member of the Houston Fat Stock Show and Rodeo. He was on one of the original barbeque cook off teams at the Rodeo and their team won the cook off on at least one occasion. John was also a sportsman. He enjoyed golf, bird hunting, horse-racing and was an avid football fan. John has many friends and will be remembered and missed by the many who loved him.
