Roy Vincent Covington, 71, of Deputy, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 20, 1942, in Dupont, to Raymond Guy and Virginia Holewager Covington. He was a 1961 graduate of Dupont High School. He later went to work and retired from Cummins Engine Co. in Columbus. He enjoyed taking care of his home and property.
He is survived by four sisters, Velma Aline Marling of North Vernon, Mary Peters and Marjorie Marcum, both of Deputy, and Joann Eman of Albany, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Francis LaPine Covington, whom he married April 17, 1981, and who died Aug. 31, 2009; and his parents.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Burial will be in Dupont Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the King's Daughters' Health Hospice.
