Johnny Holloway, 70, of Lubbock, passed away on October 19, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patti Holloway, his son, Kelly Holloway, and daughters, Chelsea Holloway and Amy Holloway Marney, and granddaughter, Sydney Marney, all of Lubbock. He is also survived by his mother, Emma Sanders Holloway of Lubbock, his brother Gary Holloway and his wife Kay of Canyon, Tx, and his sister, Louise Robertson and her husband Chris of Belleville, Illinois. As well as many Sanders and Holloway nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Shelby Holloway and his older brother Jimmy Holloway.
Johnny graduated from Monterey High School in 1961,then attended Southwestern University on a basketball scholarship where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Johnny was a self-employed utilities contractor for 44 years. First with Holloway Contracting, then Holloway Bros. Construction and later with Hawkeye Road Boring, affectionately named for Johnny's golf nickname "Hawk" which he received after making a hole-in-one at Meadowbrook Golf Course and appearing in Golf Digest Magazine. Johnny passed away peacefully at his home after a battle with Alzheimer's.
Family, friends, and golf buddies will be having a Memorial Service Saturday October 26, 2013 at 5pm at Stone Gate Golf Course, located at 11010 Indiana Ave in Lubbock, Tx. followed by a Celebration of Life party. The remembrance will include a memorial service, sharing memories, cold beers, and live music as we remember, honor, and celebrate the life of Johnny "Hawk" Holloway. Forever in our hearts.
