Roy John "Bubba" Sherman Jr., 14, died Monday in Geisigner Community Medical Center.

Born in Scranton, son of Roy John Sr. and Joann Schmidt Sherman, he was a member of St. Ann's Basilica. He was a ninth-grade student at West Scranton High School.

Roy enjoyed playing football, baseball and wrestling. Roy was always with his father and helping anyone who needed help. He had a heart of gold and you could always count on him. He was the light of his mother's eyes. He loved to ride his quad and spend time with his dog, "dog." He was a loving and caring son, brother, grandson, uncle and friend who will be deeply missed by everyone whom he met.

Also surviving are two sisters, Kayla Sherman and fiancé, Cory Maconeghy; and Carley Sherman, all of Scranton; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Jacqueline Judge Schmidt, Scranton; paternal grandmother, Stephanie Sherman Bidwell, Taylor; aunt, Stacy Henehan and husband, Martin, Scranton; uncles, Joe Schmidt, Scranton; Rocky Sherman and wife, Gaye, Delaware; Robbie Sherman, Scranton; Ray Sherman and fiancée, Dawn Shoto, Scranton; four nieces, Kaylanah, Adalyn and Toni Lynn Maconeghy; and Justyce Little; his best friends, Michael Jobs and Amber Potrzuski; and numerous cousins.

He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Roy Sherman.
