The funeral for Marie Slate Light, 80, of Joppa Road, Ridgeway, who died April 2, 2011, at her home, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Community Funeral Service in Ridgeway. The Rev. Jim Churchwell will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway.
The family will receive friends for one hour before the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was born Nov. 25, 1930, in Rockingham County, NC to Fred Slate and Mollie Mae Grogan Slate.
She retired from DuPont, where she worked more than 26 years.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her husband, Billy G. Light Sr. of the home; a daughter, Donna Light Keyser of Marshville, N.C.; two sons, Billy G. Light Jr. of Natural Bridge and Glenn A. Light of Ridgeway; two sisters, Nancy Louise Dillon of Midlothian and Molly Miranda Slate of Ridgeway; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
