He retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force in 1967 after twenty years of service. He was an honor graduate of the US Air Force NCO Academy in Langley. After his military retirement he worked for and retired from the US Postal Service. He was a fifty year member of the Rosicrucian Order, AMORC.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Colonel Robert P Young and Alfred Young.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Trudy E Young; a son, Patrick Young; a daughter, Vicki Young; A brother, Steve Young; his four sisters, Margaret Chung, Helen Pimanu, Sue Sutton, and Jane Durkee; and two grandchildren.
