Obit: Wayne A. Walter, 79, of Grants Pass died Friday, Aug. 20, 1999 at his home. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Newman United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brett Strobel officiating. Inurnment will be at Fort Henderson National Cemetery in Nebraska. Walter was born Nov 9, 1919 in McCook, NE; during WW II he served with the U. S. Army and received three Purple Hearts and many other citations and awards. On Dec 24, 1945 he married Marion L. Ronneker, who died Sep 27, 1997. He worked for United States Steel for 35 years. In 1983 he moved to Grants Pass from Orem, Utah. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and tying flies. Walter is survived by two daughters, Shella M. Walter-Nordlow and Cheryl Walter-Conover, both of Grants Pass; and four grandchildren. A grandson, Jeremy M. Conover died before him.
