John S. Hunter, 34, died at 7:45 o'clock Sunday morning, June 21, 1959, in the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown.

He had been ill a week and was a patient in Massena Memorial Hospital before being transferred to Watertown.

He was born in Masssena, October 25, 1924, a son of Alex Hunter and the late Ethel Snetsinger Hunter.

He attended Brasher and Stocholm High School and enlisted in the army in 1942, serving in the paratroop division for two years.

On November 16, 1947, he married Olivia Wilson, at Massena, with the Rev. A. Leslie Potter, then pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. They operated a dairy farm near Winthrop after their marriage. For the past five years he has driven a school bus for St.Lawrence Central School.

He was a member of Winthrop Grange, a leader in the Pickle St. 4-H Club and he attended the Buckton Methodist Church.

Surviving are his father, Alex Hunter, in Connecticut; his wife; one son, Michael 4; four daughters, Mary Jane 10, Marie 3, Joyce 6, Susie 11 months; four sisters, Mrs. Bernard(Marjorie) Donovan, Sanfordville, Mrs. Claude (Jean) Moulton, Winthrop, Mrs. Gerald Jackson, Chicopee Falls, Mass., Mrs. Philip (Wilda) Grand, Edwards and several nieces and nephews.
