A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 26, at Guilford Memorial Park with the Rev. Douglas Rights officiating.
He was born June 8, 1955, in Guilford County to the late Herbert David and Ann Collson Gilbert. David will be missed by many and remembered as a loving father. He was known for his kindness and selfless generosity. He was also an avid collector of antique tools and various treasures.
David is survived by a son, Herbert Ranger Gilbert; a sister, Myra Gilbert Gnadt and brother-in-law, Steve of Maryland; a nephew and niece, Matt and Meghan Gnadt; an aunt and uncle, Charlotte and Herman Pickett of Greensboro; two cousins, Ruth Pickett of Greensboro and Skip Pickett and family of Winston-Salem; David's son's mother, Kim Athan; half-brother, Wesley Athan; and grandmother, Shirley Athan all of Clemmons.
