Bedford, Massachusetts - William L. Hennrikus, 79, of Bedford, died at his home surrounded by his loving family on August 29, 2009.

Mr. Hennrikus was born in Newton on August 5, 1930, and he was the son of the late George F. and Agnes (Holmes) Hennrikus.

He was a graduate of the Frankfurt American High School in Germany and he earned his bachelor of arts degree in public relations from Boston University.

He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the Army from 1952 to 1954. He was honorably discharged with a rank of Corporal.

Mr. Hennrikus was a longtime employee of Northeast Petroleum Service and Supply in Jamaica Plain and also was the Veterans Agent for the Town of Bedford for many years. Earlier in his career, he also sold real estate and insurance and enjoyed working with his father-in-law at McNiff's Grill in Boston.

Living in Bedford since 1955, he was active in the community and was one of the original founders of the Wedgewood Swim & Tennis Club. He was also a member of St. Michael Parish, the Athletic Booster Club and a member of the Lexington Golf Club.

He was the husband of Patricia (McNiff) Hennrikus who died in 1996.

Mr. Hennrikus is survived by his son, Dr. William Hennrikus and his wife, Dr. Eileen Hennrikus of Hershey, PA, five daughters, Susan Pray and her husband, John of Chelmsford, Judy Link and her husband, Mark of Sudbury, Nancy Reagan and her husband, Jay of Southbury, CT, Kathy Penney and her husband, Scott of Groton, MA and Joyce Towle and her husband, Patrick of Bedford; one brother Paul and his wife Cindy of Annapolis, MD, twenty-one grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was the brother of the late George and Jack Hennrikus.
