STEARNS, Sylvia Naomi 87, of Yarmouthport, died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Lawrence Stearns. Born in Boston to the late Sam and Florence Perlman, she graduated with a B.A. from Simmons College. She had worked as a copy editor for A.D. Little. She also volunteered at WGBH in Boston. Resident of Yarmouthport for 35 years, the last eight of which were at Heatherwood. Sylvia was a member of the Cape Cod Synagogue. She was a lover of the arts & nature, travel and fine cuisine. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Melvin Perlman. Sylvia is survived by her sons, Robert Stearns & his wife, Naomi, and Malcolm Stearns; grandchildren, Alison Reder and Mark Stearns; and great grandchildren, Maya Matatall and Madison Stearns. Graveside Service will be held Monday, October 21st, at 3:00PM, in Ancient Cemetery, Ancient Way, Yarmouthport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the McCarthy Care Center, 73 Service Rd., East Sandwich, MA 02537.
