From a book published about December 21, 1897, "Secretary's report – Harvard College (1780- ). Class of 1887"

I am unmarried and live in the winter months in Salem and the balance of the year in Beverly Farms. Am a member of the Salem Club, the Essex County Club, the Eastern Yacht Club, the Somerset Club, the Architectural Club and the Boston Society of Architects. Was commissioned by Governor Russell Quartermaster of the Second Brigade of the Massachusetts Volunteer Militia, and have held the position ever since. Am practicing architecture and am of the firm of Andrews, Jaques & Rantoul, to which I was admitted in 1889.

I have done no foreign traveling, my journeys being confined to this country, mostly in connection with my profession. Outside the New England States I have been particularly in Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, Milwaukee, St. Paul, Des Moines, Denver, Colorado Springs, New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburg, Baltimore, and Washington. In many of these cities have executed important work.
