Raymond "Ray" Bowser passed away on April 22, 2003, at his home in Spring Creek, Nev. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, he was raised in Las Vegas, when he played football at LVHS and graduated in 1956. Ray served with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in the Far East and lived in Las Vegas and Reno before moving to Spring Creek, where he resided until his death from leukemia. He became a well-known and respected community leader and advocate. Ray founded the Spring Creek Falcon football team and was active in coaching football and baseball. He was also active in team steer roping and founded the Ruby Mountain Roping Club. As an outdoor sports enthusiast, he was an avid saltwater fisherman, golfer, skydiver, chukar hunter and water or snow skier. Ray owned and operated Bowser Construction in Elko and was regarded as one of the best general contractor in Nevada. He was extremely proud to be a member of the Spring Creek and Elko communities. He will be deeply missed by family, friends and both communities. He is survived by his sons, Scott, of Elko, Bill, Ronald and Reynold Nailon; daughters, Debra (Dee Dee) Bowser of Little Rock, Ark, and Teresa Nailon; brother, Bill Bowser of Reno; sister, Evelyn Callaway, of Sparks; devoted companion Victoria Battisti, of Elko; and numerous lifelong friends throughout the state.
