Bobby Joyce Qualls was born to Otis Qualls and Neva Powers Qualls in Fresno, Ca. on December 18, 1930. She grew up on family ranches in Auberry and the lower foothills. She was as good on a horse as anybody in the hills. Bobby moved to the valley in the early 1940's and graduated from Fowler High School in 1949. During this time she continued to love and work with her horses. She was honored for these accomplishments by being the Clovis rodeo Queen also in 1949. Bobby continued her education at Fresno State College where she earned her teaching credential. Her entire teaching career was spent at Dos Palos High School where she taught Physical Education and coached swimming and tennis. Bobby retired to the ranching life she loved in the early 1970's. She eventually moved back to the family's Beckham ranch. where she passed away on Friday, October 18, 2013, at the age of 82. Bobby is survived by her longtime friend, ranching partner, and caregiver, Phyllis Mc- Cauley; as well as her brothers, Tony Coello, Wes Qualls and his wife, Lynda of Auberry. Bobby is also survived by a host of loving and dedicated friends.
