Early on in his career, David owned a mechanic and body shop in Titusvile, as well as being a general contractor. He had also been employed at the Pontiac Garage in Titusville as a mechanic and at Cyclops. He enjoyed auto racing and talking with people. David never met a stranger. While living in Florida, he became a huge fan of flea markets and yard sales. His car rarely passed a yard sale sign. He would often comment that he went, not because he needed anything, but because he enjoyed talking with the people.
David was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Eleanor Platt of Lincolnville, Pa., and Esther Hopkins of Floral City, Fla. He is survived by three siblings, Adeline Hummer (John) of Youngsville, Pa., Betty McClenaghan (Ken) of Glendale, Wis., and Richard Alcorn of Houston, Texas. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 39 years, Betty Alcorn; children David Lynn Alcorn (Hazel) of Titusville, Pa., Ann Giblin (Doug) of Slippery Rock, Pa., Worth Alcorn (Kathy) of Fort Myers, Fla., and Marlene McCracken (Wesley) of Slippery Rock, Pa.; his grandchildren David Nye of Slippery Rock, Pa., Laurie Hawkins (Rob) of Slippery Rock, Pa., Jackie Borum of Sanford, Fla., Rich Alcorn (Lisa) of Warren, Pa., Mike Alcorn (Tonya) of Russell, Pa., Shaun Alcorn of Meadville, Pa., and Rodney and René McCracken of Slippery Rock, Pa. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren. In addition, he had six stepchildren: Larry Jewell, Barbara Anthony, Doug Jewell (Nancy), Bill Jewell (Lola), Brad Jewell (Sandy) and Laura Petryszyn, as well as many stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
