A. Vernon Holsinger, 102, of Freeport, died Saturday, March 24, 2007, at FHN Memorial Hospital.

Vernon was born September 4, 1904 in Freeport he was the son of Charles and Ollie (Fye) Holsinger. He married Jenny Kolthoff in 1932 and she died in 1955. He married Eleanor L. Schmertman September 10, 1978 and she died December 17, 1989.

Vernon farmed for a while and then was with Furst McNess Company until his retirement. He was a member of Embury United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his cousins, Ray (Lucille) Meier of Freeport and Janet Cain of Mesa, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wives.

Funeral service will be Tuesday 11 a.m. at Walker Mortuary with Reverend D. Robin Benson of Embury United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum. Visitation will be Tuesday 10 a.m. until time of service at Walker Mortuary.

A memorial has been established for Embury United Methodist Church.
