The following is the English translation of the obituary originally written in Wendish:

We remember with love John August, the younger son of August William Winkler, farmer in Serbin, and his wife, Anna née Lowke from Serbin, who the Lord our God called to Himself this past Tuesday at 10:00 in the morning. His mortal remains were given a Christian burial with blessings after a graveside funeral sermon this past Wednesday.

He was born a week ago today at 2:30 in the morning and received an emergency baptism at home. Subsequently, after receiving the baptism, he went home to his Lord at the age of two days and seven hours.

May the Lord comfort both grieving parents; a brother John Carl August; two grieving grandpas and grandmas, namely August Winkler, farmer in Serbin and wife, Marie, as well as Andrew Lowke, farmer in Serbin and wife, Anna; and other near and distant friends.

Thanks to sponsor John Kubitz for the bouquet and transporting the body; to sponsor Peter Gersch for the wreath; sponsor Anna Winkler for the bouquet; to Maria Lowke for her helpfulness and the flowers; to Magdalena, wife of Ernest Winkler; to Anna Winkler for her adornments for the deceased; the grave diggers, and the grieving guests.

As a last honored remembrance of both of the decedent, we sing Hymn 506, "I Am Dying Now."
