Granville, who resided on South State Street, Dover, Delaware, served as a Captain with the Seventh Naval District, U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a graduate of the Class of 1909 from the U.S. Naval Academy.

He died of illness in the Naval Hospital in Key West, Florida while assigned the duty of Operations Officer of the Seventh Naval District during the war.

He had served in the Navy for thirty-four years at the time of his death.
