Services for Merle Sonderup, age 72 of Blair, who died April 9, 1994 at Blair will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 12 at First Lutheran Church with military graveside services in the Blair Cemetery.
Merle Sonderup was born December 27, 1921 at St. Paul, Nebraska, to Michael and Elsie Dahl Sonderup. In 1940 he graduated from Wolbach High School.
He entered the Army in August of 1942, serving until his discharge in Octoberof 1945. He served in the European Theater with the 531st Anti-Aircraft battalion.
After his discharge from the military, he moved to Blair where he was engaged in farming and construction. He was a member of the Blair American Legion and Blair Veterans of Foreign Wars.
On February 23, 1047 he married Arlene Olson at Blair, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Marie and brother, Delmer. Surviving him in death are his wife, Arlene; son, Wayne and fiancée, son and daughter-in-law, daughters and sons-in-law, seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and two brothers.
Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
