MARVIN V. “STEVE” AMEL, 77, of W5568 Harbor Road, Chilton, died Monday, June 24, 1996 at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton.
He was born Dec. 11, 1918, in the town of Brothertown, a son of Arno and Minnie Bergen Amel. On Nov. 20, 1945 he married Marian Diedrich at Kloten. Mr. Amel farmed all his life in the Town of Calumet in Fond du Lac County until retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic church in Johnsburg.
He was a truck captain for the Town of Calumet Fire Department for 25 years and drove a snowplow for the town of Calumet for many years. Mr. Amel was a member of Brothertown Fishing Club, was a nature lover and spent many hours gardening and feeding birds and wildlife around his home.
