Head-on crash near Willisburg kills 2 - From Staff and Special Dispatches - Two Willisburg residents died and another was seriously injured in a head-on collision of a car and a pickup near the Washington County town about 10 p.m. Friday. Cheri Lewis, 17, the driver of the car, which was southbound on KY 555, was dead on arrival at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown, police said. The driver of the pickup, Wayne Montgomery, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene 14 miles north of Springfield, said Washington County Coroner Fred Carey. Montgomery's niece, Donna Jean Montgomery, 17, of Willisburg, was a passenger in the Lewis car, Carey said. She suffered multiple injuries and was taken to Humana Hospital-University in Louisville, where she underwent surgery and was listed in good condition yesterday afternoon.

Lewis was a native of Willisburg, a senior at Washington County High School and a member of Willisburg Baptist Church. Survivors include her parents, Joe A. and Lena F. Lewis of Willisburg two brothers, Troy and Tim Lewis, both of Willisburg; and her grandmother, Addie Robinson of Willisburg. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Willisburg. Visitation will be at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
