Clayton John Roberts, age 62, passed away suddenly from a heart attack on July 3, 2010 at his home in Cawker City, KS.

John was born to Richard and Marty Roberts on May 4, 1948 in Minneapolis. He grew up in Warroad, graduating from Warroad HS in 1966.

He entered the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, graduating in 1970. While at West Point, he served as captain of the hockey team and sang in the Chapel Choir. After attending Ranger School he was assigned to the Field Artillery Base at Fort Sill, OK. He was stationed at Fort Wainright and Fort Richardson in Alaska. After resigning from the Army in 1976 with the rank of Captain, he worked for a private telephone company in Alaska.

He married Paula Ward in 1980 and together they had two daughters Rachel and Sarah. In 1983, John joined his father and 3 brothers in the family business.

His wife, Paula, died at the early age of 40 in 1994. For the past 16 years, John was an independent businessman, and, during this time, he met his present wife, Dona.

John loved his family, hunting, hockey and his Lord.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Paula, grandparents, Burt & Lil Roberts and George & Anna Row, uncle Lt. Clayton John Roberts, and aunt Marion Anderson.

John is survived by his wife, Dona; 2 daughters, Rachel and Sarah of Tempe, AZ; step-daughter, Rachel of Sedona AZ; parents, Richard and Marty of Sun Lakes, AZ; siblings, George (Gail) of Mesa, AZ, Elizabeth Hardwick of Warroad, Peter (Patty) of Houghton, MI, Tom (Stacy) of Mesa, AZ; uncle and aunt, Robert and Jan Row of Sun Lakes, AZ and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday July 8, 11 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, Warroad, MN. Military rites by the Warroad American Legion.
