Nora was the fourth child in a family of three boys and five girls.Nora was a young girl of about 13 or 14 when her family moved from Indiana to Germania Bench (Emblem) They came by imigrant train to Garland,where they took a horse drawn freight wagon to Dry Creek. They stayed here for two years. Living conditions were primitive and difficult. When Nora was sixteen she taught school in a log cabin at Cloverly and Beaver Creek. and lived with her brother Charles. After she married John they to a ranch north of Burlington where she raised five boys:Bert Elmer< Leonard Charles, Glen William, John, and George David.
