Graveside Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at Greenwood Cemetery. Reverend Richard L. Sebeniecher of the New Hope United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation and the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Cecil was born on March 17, 1910, in Muscatine County, the son of Clyde William and Louise Oliver Lucas. His first marriage was in 1932 to Esther Shellabarger in Muscatine. She preceded him in death in 1977. He then married Marjorie Leet on June 30, 1978, in Venice, Florida. She preceded him in death in 2000.
Cecil worked at HJ Heinz for 47 years retiring as a supervisor of maintenance.
He was a former member of the Moose Lodge and a former deacon at a Presbyterian church in Florida.
He had been a resident of Muscatine until 1970 when he retired to Florida, moving back to Muscatine in 1995.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and bird watching.
Survivors include one brother, Walter Lucas and wife, Edith, of Muscatine; four sisters, Doris Onken and husband, Gene, of New Boston, Illinois, Mary Summitt of Loveland, Colorado, Esther Hessel and husband, Albert, of Denver, Colorado, and Sandra Warner of Thornton, Colorado; two daughters-in-law, Betty Lucas of Missouri, and Phyllis Lucas of Muscatine; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, two sons, Lyle and Robert Lucas; one great-grandson, one brother, and three sisters.
