Don's Childhood Memories:

When I was less than five years old I remember my dad taking me with him to deliver groceries. He used a long, flat-bed wagon in the summer and a long, double runner sleigh in the winter. I remember my mother tucking me in the seat and covering me with a black bear-skin robe.

Teddy was our horse and my father kept him in the barn at the rear of our property. My father also had chickens and an acre or two of corn, string beans, potatoes, strawberries, etc. We also had an Airedale dog by the name of Buster. I use to sit for long periods petting him on the flat roof of his dog house. I also remember pulling the long hairs on Teddy's nose. I was a brat. When I was walking behind his stall he kicked at me. They tell me the marks of his rear hooves are still on the 4'x 8' board behind his stall. I guess he missed my head by inches. I was a mighty lucky little boy.
