Harriet Emily Lattig, daughter of Cyrus Dana Lattig and Laura Matilda (Dorsey) Lattig, was born on January 8, 1925 in Hebron, Iowa. She was educated at Macksburg schools.
On June 13, 1943, Harriet married Marvin E. Garrett in Maryville, Missouri. They primarily lived and worked in the Macksburg, Winterset and Pitzer areas. Harriet was a homemaker for Marvin and their five children. She also worked as a waitress at the Gold Buffet in Winterset. They moved to Kinsley, Kansas where they lived and worked until retiring, moving back to Macksburg, then later to Creston. They traveled to Apache Junction, Arizona where they enjoyed many winters together.
Harriet is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 73 years, Marvin, 4 sisters Ethelyn Spencer, Lucy Kirkland, Clarice Claypool and Isobel Duff and 2 brothers Delmar and Cyrus Lattig.
