Suggested edit: Ernestine F. Hanks, 92, passed away Saturday morning (May 17, 1997) at the McCoy Home for the Elderly in Newport.
She lived and went to school in Plainfield and lived and worked in Cleveland, Ohio, with her husband for a number of years before they returned to live in Plainfield, Claremont and Windsor. They retired to Lehigh Acres, Fla. In 1991, Mrs. Hanks moved back to New England after Mr. Hanks passed away.
Mrs. Hanks graduated from Kimball Union Academy in Meriden.
She was born on March 25, 1905, in Plainfield, the daughter of Ernest and Eleanor (Donaughue) Hill.
She married Charles H. Hanks.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, including Yvonne Gobin and Vera MacLeay, both of Plainfield, Joseph Meyette of Cornish and John Meyette of Plainfield.
After cremation, funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, June 11, at the Plainfield Cemetery in Plainfield with the Rev. Suellen Leugers, pastor of the Plainfield Community Church officiating.
The Knight Funeral Home in Windsor is in charge of arrangements.
