Suzanne M. Madden South Yarmouth, MA Suzanne M. Madden (Russell) of South Yarmouth, MA passed away peacefully on October 16, 2013, after a courageous 5 month battle with brain cancer. She was 74 years old. Suzanne was born on May 18, 1939, in Rochester, NY. She was the younger daughter of Michael and Lillian Russell. Her mother passed away when Suzanne was just three months old. She was fortunate to be raised by her loving aunt and uncle, Jack and Katherine Fitzgerald who she knew as Mom and Dad her whole life. She graduated from Jeremiah Burke High School in Dorchester in 1957 and maintained lifelong friendships with several of her classmates. She raised her children in Wilmington, MA, before moving to South Yarmouth 25 years ago. She was the beloved wife of Thomas Madden, her husband of 53 years. She is also survived by her three daughters and their families: Kathleen Madden and her spouse, Cynthia Nye; Lisa Madden and her partner, Mary Boucher; Kristine Powers and her husband Kevin Powers, Sr. She was a special Nana to Lanse and Michael Nye-Madden, KJ and Colin Powers, Nick Boucher, Tonya Nugent, Eddie Elinburg, and Lacey Medina. She leaves her sister, Kay Kofnovec, and her husband, Bill, of Gilroy, CA, her brother, Jack Fitzgerald, and his wife, Eileen, of South Yarmouth, and many nieces and nephews. Suzanne was a parishioner of St. Pius X church for 25 years, serving as Eucharistic Minister and a dedicated member of the "kitchen angels" group. She was an avid animal lover who enjoyed watching the birds in her yard. She cherished spending time with the family and seeing her grandchildren grow. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, October 20, 2013 from 3-6 pm at the Morris, O'Connor and Blute Funeral Home in South Yarmouth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 21, 2013 at St. Pius X in South Yarmouth. Burial will immediately follow the mass at Chandler Grey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Pius X Church Restoration Fund, 5 Barbara Street, South Yarmouth, MA 02664. The family expresses sincere gratitude to all who supported Sue throughout her illness, especially the professionals at the VNA and Cape Cod Hospital. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
